It’s spring break here and we decided to head someplace cooler for a few days. Living in Arizona, I long for the cooler temps, lakes, trees and fresh air; none of which we have on a daily basis. I scored an amazing deal on Groupon so we headed up to Pinetop, AZ for a few days! It was SO great! For any local families, we stayed at the Roundhouse Resort which was wonderful. It was a two bedroom cabin, with three beds, a pull out couch, full kitchen laundry and a jet tub. I am in NO way getting paid for this, I just really loved it! It was great “camping” experience for us, with potties and all. The resort was set in the beautiful Pinetop forest, surrounded by tall trees and a few lakes.
We had the opportunity to “unplug” for a few days and just be together. Armed with some new board games and warm coats, we took the woods by storm.
We crammed the kids into one row to make space for the gear in back. I am a cronic over packer so I needed the space!
It was a 4 1/2 hour drive and the kids did great! Many a fruit snack was eaten and very few tears shed.
The kids had never seen a snow shovel before! My New England side cringed a bit, but that’s ok. Someday we’ll live in the snow and they’ll be pros at shoveling.
The cabin was so big! One huge bed for us and two big beds for the peas. They loved having a “sleepover” together each night…and yes, my son insisted on being in every.single.picture. What a kid!
The best part was by far the heated pool, my peas LOVE to swim so they couldn’t get enough of this! They loved the playgrounds too, so much fun!
The second day we went on a long hike around the lake. It was so much fun! We fed the ducks, saw deer tracks and picked up pinecones- all things these desert kids barely get to do. the weather was phenomenal and I enjoyed breathing the fresh air. It just smelled “right”.
Here’s Daddy and the peas, loving looking at the water!
Mama and the peas.
We had so much fun on our mini vaca! In this plugged in day and age, it’s so important for families to get away, without any mine craft, blogging and candy crush and just hike, collect and play many, MANY games of Guess Who?.
Thanks Pinetop for a great time, we will be back!
