The weather is cooling down and that means I am frequently craving one thing to eat: chili! Chili is one of my favorite meals to eat, really no matter the weather, but when it’s cold out, I love it even more. It’s one of those meals that’s great for the whole family and also often tastes just as good reheated for lunches the next day. It is also a perfect meal to serve when you are planning a big game day party- especially when it’s served in ready to go personal portions! So no matter which team you are cheering for, keep your guests happy and the party going on with these little personal tortilla bowls filled with the bold flavors of this so easy to make Turkey Taco Chili.
Game Day is a great day for friends and family to gather and root for our favorite teams. It’s also a great day for delicious food, and these personal Turkey Taco Chili Bowls are perfect for them. Served in the new Whole Wheat Taco Boats from Old El Paso, your guests will love their own portion of warm chili served in a container they can eat! This chili is made from just a few wholesome ingredients and is super filling and tasty. Seasoned with Old El Paso taco seasonings, it has a bold taste that kids and adults will love.
Unfortunately my kids aren’t big fans of beans, so instead of putting whole beans in this chili, I like to instead use a can of Old El Paso refried beans. It gives the great taste of beans and the added protein but now you just can’t see that they are there!
I love to pick up all of my game day essentials at my local Walmart. They have everything I need to throw a great party all at a price that won’t break the bank. All of Old El Paso ingredients are near one another in the same aisle so I can quickly score some big flavor and then be on my way!
This Turkey Taco Chili is super easy to make and is finished in 30 minutes. You can make it ahead of time too and just warn it up for the big game- it tastes just as good. Made with all wholesome ingredients that you probably have on hand, you’ll be surprised at just how easy this Taco Chili is to make! It’s bold mexican flavors blends will with other traditional Game Day dishes and will certainly be a guest and family favorite.
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 10 oz can diced tomatoes with green chilies
- 15 oz frozen corn
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 16 oz fat free Old El Paso refried beans
- 1 packet Old El Paso taco seasoning
- 2½ cups less-sodium chicken broth
- Spray a large pot with cooking spray then brown the turkey over medium heat.
- When the turkey is cooked through, add the onions, pepper and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes. Next add in tomatoes, corn, tomato sauce, re-fried beans, taco seasoning and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer about 15-20 minutes.
- Scoop portions into Old El Paso whole wheat or flour tortilla boats and serve with your favorite toppings such as sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, or chopped scallions.
