All kids love doing crafts, but what parent likes cleaning up the mess that comes with them?? When I don’t have time to do a massive clean up, but my kids want to paint, I like to make it simple and less messy by making something like this cute Turkey Dot Craft. It’s easy, adorable and way less messy than your average painting project! One thing I also try and do, wether permitting, is to do our crafts outside, where if spills happen, it’s much easier to clean up. Today I am going to share how we made this cute Turkey Dot Craft, that would be fun for painting on it’s own, or would make an adorable name tag for your Thanksgiving guests- and I am giving away one of my very favorite parent must-haves: a Little Tikes Easy Store Picnic Table!
If you are having guests over for Thanksgiving this year, why not get your kids involved in helping by letting them make these cute turkeys that can be used so everyone knows where to sit for the meal! They don’t take long to make and would make a lovely parting gift for your guests too.
To make them, you will need:
Paper (I used orange & white for the background and then you’ll need brown for the turkey, red for the gobble and yellow for the beak)
googley eyes
glue
paint (I used yellow, orange, red and brown)
q-tips
Glue a color as a background onto your white paper first, then you’ll ned to cut a beak, gobble and a brown turkey body. I just free handed these.
You can glue these onto the paper for little kids, or let a bigger one glue them on themselves. Once this is dry, then you are ready to add the dot “feathers”!
To keep things neat, prep your surface with newspaper and use washable paint if possible. Allow your child to dip different q-tips into the paint and surround their turkey bodies with dots to serve as the turkey feathers. They can add as many or as few dots as they want! They can just surround the turkey or fill up the whole paper. I like to use a different q-tip per color paint, to keep it cleaner and prevent the colors from mixing.
The Easy Store Picnic Table from Little Tikes is the perfect table for this craft, and all of your crafts! It can be used inside or outside and washes super easily. It’s bright colors make it perfect for kids and it’s the perfect height for all aged kids to sit down easily, without having to worry about them having to tuck or untuck a chair. This table comes with two cup holders on the top and an umbrella that can be put up or down with one click!
This table can fit up to six kids and has a max weight of 200 pounds, so you’ll be sure to get a lot of use out of it! One of the best parts about this table is the fact that the legs can fold under so the it can be stored in a snap!
This table is perfect for eating snack, doing a puzzle, coloring a picture- or making this Turkey Dot Craft on! It would also be great for that extra seating come the holidays, since it can be brought inside so easily.
I just know that your kids will love making this cutie turkey as much as mine did! It’s fun to make and easy to clean up and are so adorable.
