Spring is finally here and that means warmer weather is just around the corner. Warmer weather means more time outside, family vacations and pool side get togethers- and all of that means it’s almost bathing suit season. When I was younger, this was a happy time for me, but since having kids, my metabolism isn’t what it used to be. This year, I have been making it a priority to eat better and work out more and I have lost about 12 pounds since January but still have some more I’d like to lose. I know it takes a while and being heathy is my number one priority- and that puts me sort of in an in between body phase- better than I used to me but not quite where I’d like to be yet. No matter where you are in your journey, that shouldn’t stop you from hanging out with your kids by the pool or beach this year! These simple tricks for finding the perfect mom bathing suit can help to guide you to finding the perfect suit for you!
Just because you are in the mom zone doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy being stylish every day, especially at the beach. There’s no rule that says you can only buy swimwear that makes you look frumpy but finding the balance between practicality and fashionable can be a challenge. The key to being a hot mama at the beach is finding swim pieces that are comfortable, that you feel confident in and that you’ll love to wear every time. Now that Summer is right around the corner now is the time to search for some suits that are cute, easy to move around in, and can serve double duty when needed. The last thing you want to worry about is how your suit fits!
The go-to women’s swimwear for everyone, not just moms, can be a one-piece bathing suit. Choose one with thicker straps if you are a mom that needs a little more support up top. This style can be worn under sundresses and cover-ups, or even worn with a pair of shorts. If you have an active child, this swimwear style makes it so you don’t have to worry about straps moving or coming undone as you splash around with them in the water. There’s lots of one-piece swimsuits that look super cute, especially if you pick one in a bright color or fun pattern!
If you are like me and want (need) a little more tummy control, try a suit bathing suit that has ruching through the midsection. It can help to camouflages flaws around your stomach surprising well because the crinkling of the fabric distracts from troubled areas- plus it really is cute!
I recently got this suit from Speedo and just love it! The Shirred Tank suit comes in a bunch of bright colors and has the perfect amount of ruching in the belly area. The Ultra chlorine resistant fabric designed to lasts 20 times longer than conventional swimwear fabrics and Four-Way Stretch and 9 Thread Flatlock provide a body-hugging fit and great shape retention. They have so many styles of swim suits, you’ll be impressed with the variety!!
The tankini is a staple in my swim collection. I have like 5 different ones in rotation in all different colors and patterns. They are great and flattering on all body types and help to combine the coverage of a one piece swimsuit, while giving the comfort and ease of a bikini- all while still looking cute and in style! Tankinis are a great way to subtly hide your belly if you want that so that you can feel your best this summer. Also, if you’ve ever tried to go to the bathroom with young kids in tow you’ll know how much easier a two-piece tankini is to manage.
If you feel confident, try rocking a bikini! I say why not! I may never be at that stage again, but I am jealous of anyone who is! Try a halter style top if you want more support up top.
After you get the perfect suit (or two), don’t forget about getting a cover up! I like to go for a combo of fun, functional and safety, by picking one that has some additional SPF coverage like this fun classic white zipper up aquatic fitness robe from Speedo. It’s so easy to get off and on and made of soft french terry cover-up with 3/4 length sleeves. It has a Hooded top with draw cord, Front zip closure and Side pockets. Those two along with my towel, bag, sunblock and some goggles and I’m good to go!
So make this swim season the best one yet with all of your swim essentials from Speedo! What is your go to style of swim suit?
