Welcome, welcome! I was invited by my bloggy AND real life friend Courtney with What’s Up With the Wilhelm’s to be apart of this fun “Tour Through Blogland”. The essence of this tour is to get to know other bloggers and find some new loves to follow! I love “meeting” new bloggers and reading their work, it’s one of the best parts of this amazing blogging community we are apart of! A little about me first: I am a very busy mom to three “peas” who keep me not only full of love and on my toes, but also have me ready to fill my wine glass at any minute! I love to write about them mostly, and share tips to help other moms out along with sharing some funny and honest stories about motherhood- because if you can’t laugh on this journey called “motherhood” then you are in major trouble! Now, to get to know my blog a little better, I am going to answer some questions about my little corner of the internet:
What are you working on?
Hmmm….what I am working on now?? Drinking my wine and typing this post. What am I working on for my blog? Well, I’ve got some fall projects and recipes in the works and soon I’ll be planning my 8 and 6 year old HUGE Minecraft birthday party extravaganza and planning on writing, sharing and diy-ing all along the way- so if you have a Minecraft lover in your life then stay tuned for that!
(this is a creeper- incase you didn’t know)
I have one amazing link up every week that brings bloggers together, sharing their love of blogging and wine called Wine’d Down Wednesday, and if you haven’t joined us yet, we invite you to! It’s lots of fun!
I also love to share a hilarious list of kid antics every Tuesday in my reoccurring series of Top Ten Tuesdays– where funny meets honestly in a very funny and honest way. Check those out as well.
How does your work differ from others of it’s genre?
I’m not 100% sure what my genre is? I guess I am a parenting/lifestyle/humor blogger? But I also love to share simple recipes for busy moms like this Zucchini Chicken Tomato pasta, and some fun DIY projects and crafts for both moms AND kids like these rustic painted mason jars and this edible peanut butter play dough. I also love sharing fitness tips for moms because I know all too well how hard it is to balance motherhood and life AND trying to be healthy. I guess most of all, I like to be honest about being a mom. I want other moms to know how hard it is to do our job and that it’s ok to have a hard day with the kids- and how that is normal. One thing I can’t stand is when blogs/bloggers ONLY share the happy/fun/clean moments of motherhood, since we all know there are so many, many, many more.
Why do you write/create what you do?
Well, I had debated on starting a blog for a full year before I actually wrote a single word down. I always has people asking me “how did you do that?” or “do you have any tips on ____?” (enter anything from cleaning to organizing or kids) so i thought, why not write them down? But then I figured no one would read them anyways- so I waited a whole year. Then finally I got up the courage to do it and now I can’t stop! I write for many reasons. First and for most, I write for ME. I really love how I can express myself and be honest about life. It keeps me busy and focused. I love the opportunities it has afforded me and my kids and it’s also fun! Next I write for other moms. I love to have the opportunity to be helpful in anyway to other mama’s who are on this same journey with me. I write for my kids. Not that my blog is for them, per say, but I think that it sends an important message to them that it’s important to do what you love- no matter what that is. I love being a mom, but I love how blogging has created this whole little “working” world where I can not only be mom but also a writer.
How does your writing/creating process work?
I’m a planner and a note taker, so when I have ideas for things to write, I jot them down in my planner and pencil them in. Most of my ideas come from my real life, probably like most writers. Most moms will have a terrible day and want to forget about it- me on the other hand, probably want to turn it into a blog post.
That’s why I think many moms are drawn to my blog, since it’s very honest and not fully of fluff n’ stuff. At least I HOPE that’s the way people view it 🙂 I just write from life and my reality. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes is creative, sometimes it’s helpful, and sometimes it’s about why you shouldn’t let you kids pick up trash at night.
Well that’s all- thanks for joining me on my tour through blogland and learning a bit more about me! The nest stop on our tour with be with my blogging friend and fellow Wine’d Down Wednesday co-host, Chastity from My Rays of Sunshine! She has a beautiful blog where she also writes about her kids, but definitely has waaayyyy more style than me and includes all sorts of fashion and beauty tips posts. Be sure to check her out next Monday to see her tour!
