Halloween is scary…ghosts, ghouls, vampires. All of these can be spooky and spine chilling…but motherhood is full of scary things too. These real life scary situations can be even scarier than all those ghosts and vampires combined!
1. “Mommy my ear/throat/belly hurts” on a friday at 5 pm, on a holiday weekend.
2. A toddler with a piece of gum.
3. The word “reboot” on the cable box.
4. A sippy cup filled with old milk…found under the car seat…from 2 weeks ago.
5. The “someone has lice” letter from your kids classroom.
6. Mystery leftovers in the fridge.
7. “Mom I was suppose to dress up like a superhero today!!” five minutes before the bus comes.
8.Β A toddler with a granola bar. Or a snow cone. Or a permanent marker.
9. A missing favorite toy/lovie/binkie/blankie/stuffie.
10. The box of wine is empty.
{{Shutter}} Just the thought of these things send chills up my spine. What’s your “scariest” mom situation? Are you as afraid of granola bars and sharpies as I am???
I always get nervous when my 3-year old and my almost 7-month old are “playing” in the living room and I hear the 3-year old saying “I’m sorry, Felix! I’m sorry…I’m so sorry…” followed by a loud wail from my 7-month old. It usually means she has somehow hurt him without meaning to, and she thinks that saying she is sorry negates the whole incident.
Oh that is scary! They always “want” to get along, but sometimes that toddler instinct takes over π thanks for stopping by!
I love that you said “box” of wine. Whoever says they don’t like boxed wine is in denial.
Haha! right? Love me the box- cheaper and more in it! π
Not hearing anything is when I get scared – if my children who are normally loud, get quiet then I know something is us that is not going to be good. Silence is not always golden!
Very true! Silence usually only means one things: trouble π
Eeek…I’ve unfortunately been victim to too many of those you’ve listed!! Yes, even the lice one π
Yuck! I know the feeling! We have been lucky enough to avoid lice so far, but we’ve gotten plenty of letters- very scary! π
I’m not a mom but a lot of these still give me the heebie jeebies! You always come up with the funniest posts. π
xo Always, Abby
Thanks so much! Parenting can be tiring- it’s best to laugh along the way π
It’s so funny that the mystery leftovers in the fridge is on the list. Our fridge is pretty small so once everything gets packed in there sometimes it is very easy for stuff to get pushed to the back and forgotten. My wonderful husband was cleaning out the fridge last night and found month old strawberries molding behind the tea pitchers and the butter. You couldn’t even tell they were strawberries. LOL. I was so ashamed!
Ha! I also pride myself for having a clean fridge but every once in awhile I find some mystery leftovers….yucky!
I get worried when my boys are quiet or when one calls the other to come and do something in another room. As mine are triplets I get scared about them playing up when we’re out because I get the ‘Oh poor you’ looks. Another thing that scares me is when I do a head count and one is missing (they’re usually standing behind me).
Ha! Silence is by far one of the scariest mom moments haha! Thanks for stopping by!
It’s the sound of silence for me too, especially when shortly followed by a tentative, almost whispered, “Mummmmmmy?”
Or the phrase – “Something’s gone wrong!” My son says that a lot.
And the wine being empty, that’s always a concern!
Haha! Yes, I definitely should have added “silence” to my list π
Was you in my house at 7:30 yesterday when my daughter looked at me and said “I’m supposed to dress like a superhero today”? That is too funny! Markers terrify me as well along with my other fears sissors, red juice, and legos left in the floor.
haha! see?? scary!! Red or purple juice is definitely scary- I tried to buy grape juice once, ONCE. Never again π
You always have such fun posts! π Thanks for sharing with Time For Mom Tuesday! see you tomorrow!
Thanks for hosting!
