Books. I am sure we have more books in our house than anything else- any toy, any video game or any tablet. We LOVE books in this house and are a family of readers. As soon as my babies were brought home from the hospital, I was reading to them- and I still read to them, every single night. We love all types of books, but are especially big fans recently of fun, fast paced books with exciting characters and silly story lines- which is why we are just in love with the new book This House Needs a Mouse by C. Jeffrey Nunnally.
This is a story of a house, much like our own, that is full of a family and, well, lots and lots of CRUMBS. So many crumbs in fact that this family decides they need a mouse! Across town, there is a mouse that is tired of other messy mice and decides that he, in fact, needs a house! In this funny story of multiple families, toddlers, crumbs, mice, cats and love, we learn a valuable lesson of how everything has it’s own place and how things, even if they seem insignificant can truly make a huge difference to someone else.
As soon as we received the book in the mail, my kids could not wait to read it! They all loved the beautiful illustrations and how expressive they were of the characters feelings and emotions during the story. We loved how the story moved along quickly and they couldn’t wait to turn the page to see what the mouse was going to do next!
As a mom and a former 1st grade teacher, I loved the “juicy” descriptive words in the story and how the plot had you hooked in right at the beginning. It was interesting to seen what happened when the first family who so desperately needed the mouse had to move and how the second family, who didn’t realize how much they needed that house, felt about him in the beginning. It was fun, exciting, easy to read and had us giggling the whole way through!
If you have little kids, this book is a must add to your home library! You will not be dissapointed and I can assure you it will soon become a family bedtime favorite, as it has in our house. To get your own copy of This House Needs a Mouse, you can order directly from their website and also learn more about the characters on Facebook and twitter!
