Got 15 minutes? If you are a mom, you are probably thinking NO- but guess what? Being a mom, doesn’t mean you don’t need breaks- in fact, I am pretty sure moms need even MORE breaks than the average person! Just because you have kids at home, doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a break and a few minutes to yourself. A few minutes of quiet can really help prepare you for the rest of the day. The perfect mom time out doesn’t have to mean leaving the house- it can happen anywhere or anytime! To me, the perfect break includes my current book and something sweet- perfectly portioned just for me.
When my kids were babies, I felt like I was running around constantly from sun up till sun down and I figured it HAD to get better as they got older. It did, in a way, in the sense that my kids are now independent and can manage lots of things on their own, but that doesn’t mean I still don’t find myself running around everywhere. Now we are even more busy with school, sports and friends- and while I love every minute of it, when I can feel my patience being tested, that usually means I need a little time out.
A few years ago I made a promise to myself that I would renew my old love of reading and make it a priority to read everyday. I really can’t sit down and read for an hour when my kids are home, but I usually can find 10 or 15 minutes here or there. When those quieter moments do arise, I seize the opportunity and do something for ME.
I love sweets just as much as the next person and if I do have a few rare moments of peace, I love indulging in a few bites of something that’s warm, sweet- and usually chocolatey. I love baking, but don’t always have enough time to do it, which is why I am just in love with these new Perfect Size for 1 mug cakes from Duncan Hines! These little mini cakes are just the right size for one person and can be whipped up in about a minute- without even turning my oven on!
Each little pouch makes one warm delicious treat just for you. The Chocolate Lover’s Cake is my favorite and is made in a mug with only some water. Even better is that they are completely customizable and be made with really any liquid y9ou want and topped with whatever you wish- How perfect is that?!
Try using almond milk, coffee or even cherry soda to make your cake. Feeling fruity? Top your mini cake with fresh fruit. Feeling like you need a treat? Try a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream. The possibilities are truly endless! With the new Perfect Size for 1 cakes by Duncan Hines, you can enjoy a delicious dessert for one, without even heating your oven or dirtying a pan. Since I have enough dishes to do daily anyways, I could totally live with that! With 18 tasty Perfect Size for 1 flavors to choose from, you can have a tasty dessert in about a minute!
So when my few minutes of quiet pop up, I first quick make myself a warm, delicious Chocolate Lover’s cake, top it with a little whipped cream and a few fresh strawberries (my favorite!), grab my book and drift away in a mom’s paradise- even if it only lasts for 15 minutes. My little break leaves me feeling refreshed and read to tackle whatever comes next.
