Are you a child of the 80’s like I am? I truly think that out of all the decades I have lived in, the 80’s were the most radical and awesome for sure. The fashion, the music, the neon…how can it get any better?!? Lots of trends from the 80’s have begun to come back, but not all of them. Here are ten totally radical things from the 80’s I wish would become popular again:
1. Parachute pants
I know they are ugly, but think of how comfortable they are! It would be a nice change from yoga pants.
2. Rubber Bracelets
Not just one or two…I want to wear them from my wrist half way to my elbow. Now, THAT’S awesome! Mom benefit: they can be worn while washing dishes and kids in the tub.
3. The Side Pony
Like Deb from Napoleon Dynamite. It’s super easy to do and keeps your hair out of your face when you are folding laundry all day.
4. Jellies
Super easy to clean and breathable. Also great for watering plants.
5. Leg Warmers
Not just under boots. All day. With every outfit. Awesome. I’ll also take those legs too.
6. Lingo
I want words like “totally”, “rad” and “totally rad” to be cool again….and I don’t want my kids to look at me like I had 10 heads when I say them.
7.ย Oversized shirts with a side clip
Oversized shirts are always a good thing for mamas…and add in one of stylish clips and you are ready to go! Too much pasta last night? Just throw on a big shirt- no one will the wiser.
8. Neon
Who needs neutrals when you have neon??
9. Synthesizers
Music is just better with them. The proof is below.
10. True Romance
Yea, like that ^^^. Only a true romantic will hold a boom box up for you! And if you don’t know what movie this is from then we are not friends anymore.
Do you love the 80’s as much as I do?? What trends would you bring back?
Totally rad.
HaHa – what a fun list!!! I still say totally – I’m sure my teens love it!! I’m not sure on the parachute pants – I didn’t know my husband in the 80s but I’ve seen many pictures of him rocking the parachute pants while performing in a band – classy!!
Yea those parachute pants were U-G-L-Y but comfortable! LOl! Sometimes that the better option ๐
I”d have to go with “big hair”.. I don’t have it, but have spent my life wishing I did!
Big hair! Love it! I have flat hair so big hair was always difficult for me too LOl
Hah! I love this list! I agree with Seana, Id have to go with big hair because I feel like my hair has always wanted to rock the 80s look!!!
Me too! Big hair was a dream of mine, not enough hairspray in the world to make mine stay up! haha
I loved Jellies they were so cool. You forgot those color changing shirts.
Those shirts were hilarious and so bizarre! We can wear those shirts with the jellies ๐
What a complete rad post ๐
I love those bracelets and the side pony, yes! I loved jellies, but they always hurt my feet. I never quite got the side clip for shirts though, never could get them to hook right.
I really love those bracelets, they were so fun! If I had them now, I’m sure my daughter’s would steal them from me ๐
Love me some rubber bracelets! Neon colors when you’re feeling spunky, black ones for when you’re feeling misunderstood.
Haha! Hilarious. I need some of those now for real! Thank you for stopping by!
History will never forget the bright colors and cool styles of clothing from the magical 1980s โ๏ธ๐๐
Omgosh… i was waiting for someone to mention how bad the “Jellies ” hurt your feet.lol ๐ i never could rock the side Pony tail, my hair was to thin, so i rocked (now don’t laugh ๐) the spiked hair on top & a rat tail lmbo
