As most of you know, last year I was asked to be apart of the first generation of the Swiffer Ambassador team. This team was assembled to help share all about Swiffer and how amazing they are, which is easy for me because I truly do love their products! We got to visit Cincinnati and the Proctor and Gamble facilities and do some pretty awesome side trips and it was one of the best blogging trips I have ever been on. I had so much fun, that you can imagine my excitement when I was asked to be part of the SECOND year of the program! I am a proud member of the Swiffer Fanatic Team 2.0 and can’t wait to share with you all about fun activities we did on our second immersion trip.
This year’s trip was to fabulous NYC and what a fun few days we had! Good HouseKeeping tours, cake decorating, petting puppies and dancing with the Rockettes (yes you read that right!) was just the tip of the Swiffer ice burg. These two days were spent bonding, hanging out with old blogging friends and meeting some new ones- and of course, learning all about the new and exciting highlights of what Swiffer is doing now.
For our trip, we stayed in the SoHo neighborhood of New York at the SoHo Grand hotel. It had a very cool combination of Art Deco and modern touches and was such a neat place to stay. I loved all of the attention to detail the hotel focused on, showcasing the beauty of the 1920’s style with some modern touches an amenities. It was such a beautiful hotel.
Day One began learning about Swiffer’s new research and development into making the Swiffer brand and it’s products the best they can be. Their focus is making Swiffer a fun brand that everyday people can relate to- which I know is working because literally everyone I know uses at least ONE swiffer product in their house! They are busy updating a few of the products too, which include making the Wet-Jet better on wooden surfaces, since so many people are installing hardwood or engineered wood floors now a days. The cleaner and pad are being revamped to make them less streaky on dark wood surfaces and to cut drying time down- which is great for me because I know I only have a few minutes after I mop before a kid or dog is going to run in the room!
Later that day we got to tour the amazing Good Housekeeping Institute which was one of the coolest places I have ever been (nerd alert!). This beautiful building sat over looking Central Park and houses the magazine editing rooms and all of the test kitchens and labs where they test products to see which deserve the “Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval”. Did you know that when a product has the Good Housekeeping Seal on it, it’s a guarantee from them? They will literally give you your money back if it doesn’t perform up to standard- pretty neat, right?
The view from their test kitchens was unbelievable- I honestly don’t know how they get any work done!! Touring the Good Housekeeping Institute was my most favorite part of the weekend. It was so enlightening to see what does into testing the products and how they photograph things for the magazine. It was so cool.
The second day began with a trip over the river to Jersey to the big Cake Boss kitchen studios where we got to meet some of the show’s stars and see how they are filmed. We toured their HUGE kitchens and decorating rooms and then got to decorate some cakes ourselves! This was so much fun because I love decorating cakes and we got all sorts of fun tools and supplies to use. We were in groups and had to make some “Swiffer” themed cakes.
Our group made a long Swiffer brand name cake with some cute Swiffer products as decorating. I just love the little Swiffer dusters on mine, so cute. It was such a fun experiences working with these other HUGE bloggers and getting to know each other better over cake!
After, we got to dance some of the calories off by learning some classic Rockette moves with real live Rockettes! These girls were amazing and so patient with us that have two left feet (like me). We learned the high kicks and spins and got a glimpse into the training that goes on to make the classic holiday show a hit year after year.
Lastly we got to visit Foster Dogs NYC, which was a little building in the middle of the city that held lots of love for helping to find dogs find forever homes. It was so sweet seeing all of the dogs that already had homes and how hard everyone worked trying to find homes for the rest of them. If you are in the area, be sure to visit them if you are looking for a furry friend for your family.
Overall, the few days were a whirlwind of fun, learning and laughs- with some excellent food sprinkled in the mix. It was so great reconnecting with the Swiffer team and my blogging buddies, and meeting some new ones too. I can’t wait to share with more about Swiffer this year and how amazing their products truly are. Stay tuned for more Swiffer fun, tips and tricks!
