Summer is ending and the start of fall is right around there corner. With the cooler temperatures upon us, we often switch from cool drinks to warm ones- but we don’t always have to! Sometimes a gathering of great friends on the back deck calls for a recall of the warm summer nights. When the feeling strikes you, you can whip of a batch of these beautiful Strawberry Basil Margaritas that come with a special summery surprise- an Outshine Fruit Bar!
A fun and fruity margarita is one of my favorite cocktails, no matter what the weather. These ones are especially delicious too with the unexpected combo of flavors of strawberry and basil. Not everyone thinks of adding basil to a drink but they should! These margaritas are light, refreshing, not too sweet and not too strong – my perfect kind of cocktail! To make them even more tasty (and look even better!) I love to add in a burst of fruity flavor from one my favorite frozen snacks, and Outshine Fruit Bar.
These fruit bars are so good because they actually taste like the fruit they are made of! Each bar is made of real fruit juice and pieces of fruit- not full of sugar like those other frozen treats you can find at the store. These Strawberry fruit bars are full of real puréed strawberries and don’t contain any high-fructose corn syrup or artificial colors and flavors. They are so incredibly refreshing and tasty and are just perfect for adding a burst of fruit flavor to my strawberry basil margaritas.
Each cocktail is so simple to make. First muddle some fresh strawberries and chopped basil. Then add in some lime juice, Tequila, Tripe Sec, and club soda and stir together. Next top with ice and add in an Outshine Strawberry Fruit Bar to each and you are all set. This recipe makes two cocktails, and it can easily be doubled (or tripled) for more friends. The fruit bar does two jobs, one slowly melting into the cocktail which helps to add in some sweet strawberry flavor and also helps to keep your drink extra chilled!
- 1 tbsp basil, chopped
- ¼ c strawberries, chopped
- 1 tbsp lime
- 1 oz Tequila
- ½ oz Triple Sec
- 4 oz club soda
- 1 strawberry Outshine pop per drink
- Place your chopped strawberry & basil in to a glass.
- Use a muddler to smash the strawberries and basil together.
- Add in the lime, Tequila, Cointreau, and club soda. Stir together.
- Top off with ice, and then add in one strawberry Outshine pop per drink.
One of the main reasons I love these fruit bars is how the are a simple way to enjoy a sweet frozen treat, without the guilt of the extra sugar usually added in frozen treats. They are a perfect addition to our love of being outside together!
