It’s almost Halloween so that means there’s candy everywhere! While I do try and avoid it for the most part, I am not one for turning down a quick treat every now and again. My kids, on the other hand, ALWAYS are in the mood for something sweet. This Spooky Halloween Bark is one of their favorite’s, and I love how easy it is to make!
This Spooky Halloween Bark is so simple to put together and can be made in just a few minutes. It makes a great neighbor or teacher gift too. You can add pretty much any candy to it that you want. I chose Kit Kats, mini M & M’s, candy corn, halloween sprinkles and, the best part- mini candy eyes! These eyes really separate it from being a regular bark to a spooky one. You can buy these eyes at any store and usually are found in the baking aisle.
The base of the bark is semi-sweet chocolate, but you can use any type of chocolate you wish. Milk chocolate would make an overall sweeter bark or dark would make it less sweet. Using the semi-sweet puts it right in the middle.
You’ll want to melt the chocolate in the microwave or using a double boiler and then spread it on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Don’t spread it too thin, I’d say about 1/4 inch thick is good! Then you’ll put the candy on it however you want!
Once you place the candy down, place the bark in the fridge for at least an hour until it’s harden. After it’s hard then you can cut it into diagonal shapes and store it in an air-tight container until you are ready to eat it!
- 2- 12oz bags of semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3 cups assorted candies
- Line a being sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt the chocolate chips and then spread it onto the sheet until it's about ¼ in thick.
- Sprinkle the candy on the bark. Let cool in the fridge until hardened, at least on hour.
- Cut and store in an air tight container.
Looks yummy, right? This is such a fun way to celebrate Halloween and an even better way to use up some leftover candy afterwards.
