If your kids are anything like mine, they won’t eat much, but they’ll always eat pasta. I love making a homemade sauce to go with our noodles and this is one my our favorites. Not only is this sauce very simple, it is extremely yummy!
Simple Tomato Basil Marinara Sauce
2T olive oil
1/2 onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, diced
28 oz. can whole peeled tomatoes
1 T dried basil
1 t sugar
1/2 c chicken stock
10 fresh basil leaves
salt and pepper to taste
Ready for simple??
1. Warm the butter and olive oil in a large pot. Add in the garlic and onion and sauté for 5 minutes until soft.
2. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer on medium for 25 minutes. Add the salt and pepper to your families taste.
3. Smash up the tomatoes with a potato masher until the sauce is as chunk as you like it.
Voila! That’s it! This sauce tastes like it’s been simmering for days and it barely too 30 minutes. It holds well in the fridge and also freezes well to use the extra later. Double the recipe to make a nice big batch and save for later suppers. Bon Appetite!
