Did you miss me when I was gone?? Believe it or not, I missed writing. I guess when you try to share everyday, it feels strange not to! The past few days, my family took a mini-vacation to Scottsdale. We stayed for three days and two night and had so.much.fun. We stayed at the Scottsdale Fairmont in a casita suite. Our friend works there and she gave us quite the hook up and we are forever indebted to her. We got to have our baggage taken to our room, took a golf-cart tour around the property and the kids even got cute little stuffed animals at check-in. The room was gorg! We are too large of a group to stay in a regular room anyways, so I was so glad that we were able to upgrade. The suite was two rooms and a HUGE bathroom! The kids had a blast “exploring”, as they said. We even had a fireplace, not that we needed it since it was like 100 degrees outside. I did turn it on one night though, just because it was there.
This bathroom was HUGE. I think just the bathroom and walk-in closet was bigger than Mr. Pea’s and I’s first apartment together many moons ago. It even had all sorts of fancy things in it:
Yea, it had a shoe horn and a scale….like, who would want to take their weight on a VACATION? Not me, so I slid it back under the shelf. The kids did enjoy playing with it though.
Normally I don’t use the shampoos and stuff at the hotel because they dry my skin out…but not here! These soaps were the bomb and I loved them. The peas really got a kick out of how big the tub was….awesome.
The resort was gorgeous, complete with like 5 pools and two huge water slides. The kids had a blast going up and down the slides. I swear, they must have gone down 3,000 times. The stairs were an added bonus, I’m sure I clocked at least 2 miles worth of walking, which probably helped me stay off a few pounds.
Unfortunately, Hannah wasn’t tall enough for the slides, but I tried to keep her busy otherwise. The pool was warm too, which is always nice. They had basketball hoops in the water, toys for the kids to play with, a playground and a huge built in sandbox when they wanted a break from the water. Day one, we explored the property for a bit and admired the lakes, ducks and bunnies. Then we went straight to the pool. The kids slid, swam and played for HOURS. One of the many perks we were afforded was two days of cabana rentals, which was just awesome with the kids. They were shaded, had personal fridges, tv’s, robes, towels and personal bar service- bonus!
Since we went on a weekday, the resort was so quiet and calm. This was perfect for us. There were other kids too, and the peas had fun swimming and meeting new buddies.
Both nights we ate on property. (we brought our own breakfast, lunch and snacks to save money) Kids under 5 ate free, which was a great money saver. The restaurant we went to the first night looked very fancy when we walked in and I was petrified! My kids and fancy don’t really mix. But, then the server walked over with personal Innotabs for the kids to play with, along with little swimmy fish and sunglasses to take home! Ummm, score! The kids were quiet the whole time we ate!
So fun!! Afterwards, we walked around some and then headed back to the room. After a nice relaxing tub, the kiddies were in bed. We put them in the big room and Mr. Pea and I slept on the pull out couch…that way we could have quiet and stay up for awhile while the kids slept.
We even got to enjoy a few quiet moments alone on the balcony.
Yes, later in the evening, we had bouts of waking up and played a not-so-fun game of musical beds, but that’s ok…no vacation is without some flaws, right?? 🙂
The second and full day we were there, we spent the entire day at the pool. We were greeted with our own personal cabana, with our name and everything! We also had a complimentary fruit bowl…yummers!
We swan for about 6 hours. It was so nice just to relax and hang out with no obligations! That night, we ate at a Mexican restaurant on property and all the girls got to wear their new dresses.
It was such a good time! After dinner, we went to the kids center and played Wii, shuffle board and ping pong with the kids. Even though we didn’t get any “alone” time, we still had a blast.
The last day after check out, we went to a nice indoor playground with the kiddies before heading home. Even though it was only for a few days. the vacation was perfect…all expect for the musical beds part- but I’ll take this close to perfection any day!
