I am a sports mom, have been for a few years. Most of my days are spent literally driving one kid to practice here and then taking the other to practice there and much of my time gets split up in between driving, sitting on a soccer field or behind a baseball dugout. I am very careful to be sue my kids have lots of snacks and drinks to keep them full and happy, but guess who often gets forgotten?? Yea, me.
So here I am, hungry on the sidelines, and it’s not a pretty picture. Who am I when I am hungry? I get crabby, short tempered and tired- all of which are qualities that are not good for a mom to possess! So I have started packing some snacks for MOM in my bag that are with me whenever I may need them so I can get back to being myself again! I recently have been in love with 5 snacks that are perfect for taking on-the-go, which is great because that is usually where I am! These snacks all fill me up and are great for eating when I think I am too busy to eat.
1. Mixed Nuts
These heart healthy bitties will get you plenty of energy and healthy fats, so feel full and energized again.
2. Fruit and Nut bars
These taste great and hold well in your bag or purse for a long time, and with the fruit and nuts, you know you are getting balanced treat!
3. Dried Fruit
I like dried or freeze dried fruits when I am out and about. Fresh strawberries will get yucky instantly in a container but these will last much longer so if you don’t get to eat them right away.
4. A good old fashioned apple
Yum, natures perfect fruit! Keeping an apple with you can really fight off the hunger pains and don’t need any prepping or cutting to be enjoyed.
5. SNICKERS® with Almonds or Peanut Butter
Oh yea, sometimes the mama wants a sweet snack! If the mood strikes me, and it often does, I like to stop by any Circle K store and pick up one of my favorite SNICKERS® Bars, either with almonds or with peanut butter. These classic candy bars are the absolute perfect balance of yummy chocolate and nuttiness that helps to give me the energy to keep on moving!

I love these double packs because it’s like to mini candy bars in one so I can save one for another day when I am feeling the dreaded “hangries” coming on.
Whether I am driving one, two or all three of my kids some place, or cheering them on from the sidelines, I definitely feel more like myself after I have fought off my hungry belly with a sweet and yummy SNICKERS® bar!
