We all know about Murphy’s Laws- things that can go wrong, will go wrong. The day you wear your cutest new shoes, it will rain. The one time you need a quarter, you will only haveย a penny. Well, parenting is no exception. Things that can go wrong usually do at one point or another. We are not alone in this, it happens to all of us. Here are my top ten Murphy’s Laws for parenting (it was hard to limit it to ten):
1. As soon as you leave the house, someone will have to go potty, no matter if you asked them to go before you left or not.
2. Speaking of pee, the moment you sit down to pee, the whole household will need something- IMMEDIETLY!
3. You kids will fight more on the days when you had less sleep.
4. When one gets sick, they will ALL get sick, no matter how many tubs of Lysol disinfecting wipes you use.
5. Your kids will fight with each other but will finally get along and be besties, 5 minutes before bed.
6. The day you forget to repack your bag with extra clothes is the day you kid will have an accident.
7. The more thought you put into a meal and the more you prep it, the less your kids will eat of it.
8. When you go through your kids toys and finally get rid of one that he/she hasn’t played with in forever, they will ask for it later that day.
9. When you pack for a trip, you remember everything AND the kitchen sink, but will forget something simple like diapers, or undies.
10. Your child will pee the bed ONLY after you spent all day washing ALL theย bedding.
When days like this happen…there is only one solution:
What can you add to the list?? I know you have more to share! There’s plenty of wine to go around ๐
Haha this is great! Love the Game of Thrones reference ๐

Thanks! I love that one too- it makes me laugh every time I see it, lol!
Yes! Yes! Yes!! For me, especially #2, #4, #7, & #8. I would also add that when you finally plan that long overdue date night or trip with your spouse, one of your kids will always get sick! (Happened the last two times my hubby and I went out of town!)
Oh yea, my kids do that too! The nerve of them getting sick, huh!? Lol
I love your list of parenting murphy law mishaps. My kids always are thirsty or have to potty when it is time for bed.
Thank you! Mine always do that too! Lol
Hehe, what a great list and so true! Anytime we have a big event or wedding to go to, our son is sick that same day but was super healthy and energetic all week. Thanks for sharing Michelle ๐
Ha! It’s always that way, huh?? Thanks for reading!
Every year since we’ve had kids old enough to play baseball/softball/fill in the sport, there’s been a game or practice on our anniversary in July. Sometimes we have to celebrate our anniversary in April because we just know we won’t be able to do anything special on the actual date!
I feel ya!! We’ll all just have to have belated dates ๐ thanks for visiting!
There are just TOO MANY TO COUNT to add to this list!! I love yours so far… CLASSIC ones for sure!!!
Here’s one that just happened this weekend. Took an HOUR to bundle THREE kids up in snow suits and hats and mittens and boots etc. After they FINALLY got outside so I could have a “time out” quiet home….
First kid comes running in panting… “I have to PEE!!!!!”
After undressing…..then dressing again…..
Second kid comes in…. “I have to PEE!!!!”
Undressing….dressing again…..
And you KNOW who’s coming in next!
Yup.
THIRD KID!!!! “I have to PEE!!!!”
Once again- undressed and dressed….
LOST. MY. MIND.
LOL!! Sounds abt right! That’s hilarious! I would have lost my mind too ๐
This is so funny and so true! As parents we have to have infinite patience and a sense of humor!
Oh yes, infinite patience haha!
Oh my gosh, #5 happens so much in our house! It’s an amazing transformation to witness. ๐ Happy to have found your blog through SITS! Yay!
Thanks for visiting!
I’m pretty sure that could be the Manifesto for Mommyhood! So very, very true!
Haha! Thanks! I honesty could have gone on and on and on lol! Narrowing it down to ten was hard ๐ thanks for visiting!
Visiting you from The SITS Girls. That is so true! They will also hate to eat stuff when at home and then eat it and “love it” at the home of their best friend, lol! We were the same when we were kids!
Haha! My oldest does that sometimes, she refuses to eat hummus here but will eat the same kind at her friends house ๐ lol!
Oh my gosh, you are spot on. And number 10 drives me the most insane! My daughter’s bed is such a pain in the you-know-what to change, and it is inevitable that any time I change the sheets, she will wet the bed. Great list! (p.s. found you through SITS!)
It’s always that way!! Now that my girls are in bunk beds it’s even harder to change them, thankfully my oldest is on the top and she doesn’t have accidents anymore but the little one occasionally will, but only after I’ve washed the sheets ๐ thanks for stopping by!
Haha! How true this list is! How about:
When your teenager packs for a trip, he / she will forget something crucial like underwear / socks / bathing suit.
or
When you let your child pack his carry-on, he will bring with him a toy gun and craft scissors.
Yep, both of these…
haha! The toy gun sounds hilarious, of course not at the time LOL, but later- kids!
It’s remarkable in support of me to have a website, which is valuable designed for my know-how.
