Recently I threw my older kids an epic Minecraft themed party and wanted to make some special treats to go along with it. I find that my kids really love anything that comes on a stick so I wanted to include something like this. These Minecraft Creeper Marshmallow Pops are super easy to make and were a huge hit. The kid really loved them.
What you’ll need to make 25 pops:
1 bag of Wilton’s GREEN candy melts
25 cake pop sticks
black gel icing pen
wax paper or tin foil
What to do:
Begin by melting the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl according to the package directions. When it’s mostly melted, dip each stick into the chocolate and then stick them in the marshmallows and lay on a wax or tin foil lined tray to set. This helps from keeping the sticks from sliding out.
After they set for 10-15 minutes, warm up the candy melts again and stir in a tablespoon or so of shortening to thin the chocolate. Stir it so it has no clumps.
Begin to dip each pop into the chocolate and use the spoon to help cover the marshmallow. Hold the pop over the bowl and tap on your hand to help get the extra chocolate off. Place them face down on the wax paper to set. Place them in the fridge or freezer for 10 minutes to help them set faster.
After the candy is completely hard, use the black icing pen to draw a Creeper face on them. They don’t have to be perfect, trust me, the kids will be too busy eating them to notice!
I didn’t realize it when I bought it, but my black icing never “hardened”. It didn’t drip off of he pop, but if I accidently stuck two pops too close together then they would smudge it, so be weary of that when you are plating and storing them.
These can be made the night before and will hold great in the fridge. They were so fun and adding a unique touch to the party!
