Do you love Swiffer products? Of course you do! Who doesn’t, right? I have been using Swiffer dusters for years, so when I was asked to join the super special Swiffer Fanatics Squad (not sure if it’s actually called a squad, but I’d like to refer to us as a squad from now on!), I was elated. First, honestly, I was shocked that my little bloggy blog was chosen, and then after the shock settled I was thrilled! What is a Swiffer Fanatic? Let me tell you more about that.
A Swiffer Fanatic gets really cool things in really cool places
The first part of my Swiffer journey was to fly out to the beautiful Cincinnati to tour the Proctor and Gamble headquarters. We stayed in the super trendy 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Cincy, which I would highly recommend to anyone visiting this midwestern city! It was very modern and full of art exhibitions all around the hotel. Oh, and yellow penguins too. Everywhere. I wanted to take one home with me! Waiting for me in my room was the the most beautiful Vera bag with a new Erin Condren planner in it- it’s honestly like they planned this just for me! (SWOON)
(this is my new penguin friend)
We ate at some fantastic restaurants and even got a tour of the city. I had never been there before so it was interesting to learn more about the history of it. I thought the whole city was very artsy in general, which surprised me! It’s a pretty cool place. I also got to meet some the other Swiffer Fanatic Squad members, which was totally rad, since I don’t get to meet other bloggers too often! I really enjoyed connecting with some and learning more about their work.
A Swiffer Fanatic learns more about this awesome brand
Of course, the purpose of our visit was to learn more about Swiffer, so the bulk of our time was diving deeper into Proctor and Gamble and learning more about their products, mission and purpose. P&G has their own historical archives and we were fortunate to be able to tour them. It was super interesting to learn how P&G got started and how one product’s technology would lead to the creation of another.
Did you know that P&G started with making soap? Their first product was making a white soap that could be used for both washing clothes and taking baths, since at the time, people typically needed two different soaps. They created a soap that not only was cheaper for people to buy but eliminated the need for two types- and it also floated! This was important in the 1800’s since many people washed in the river. Thus Ivory Soap was born. This technology changed and grew over time and now P&G is the maker of dozens of products that not only save people time but money as well- and who doesn’t want that?!
We focused on learning about the research and development behind Swiffer and how it works. We got to hear from their whole team: from marketers, to scientists to their head of social media! We even got to see some of the original prototypes of Wet-Jet’s from waayyyyyyy back forever ago in the 90’s (the 1990’s that is 😉
A Swiffer Fanatic’s job to teach YOU more about it!
Yes, I am an unofficial expert in all things Swiffer now. Have a question? Ask me! I may know the answer. We learned A LOT over our trip, but here are three interesting Swiffer facts I thought you’d want to know:
The right way to Swiffer Sweep: If you are using a Swiffer Sweeper, it’s best to do it in a figure 8 motion instead of just front and back since the front can lift up some and cause dirt to escape- and we don’t want that!
The special duster secret: Want an insider directly from the R&D team at Swiffer? If you are using the dusters, you always should shake them back and forth and fluff them up first before using them so the fibers expand and give you even more dust picking up space! Boom!
Avoid the store brand: I am a huge store brand user in many areas, but there are certain products that just don’t work the same. Swiffer dusters are one of them. There are huge differences between the construction, fibers and pick up power that it’s just worth buying the real thing- unless you love dust that is.
A Swiffer fanatic gives back
On our trip, we learned about P&G’s work in underdeveloped countries and right here at home too. P&G in Cincy is a HUGE partner with Habitat for Humanity and not only do their employees regularly volunteer with them, but they provide each new homeowner with a big green box of cleaning supplies! So awesome. Part of my job as a Swiffer Fanatic is to give people I know a big green box too, I’ve already given out one and it was so much fun!

This is only the beginning of my journey with Swiffer and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ll have lots more posts and tips as the year goes on so be sure to stick around! Learn more about Swiffer by checking them out online, on Facebook and twitter too.
