When my oldest daughter was 3, she BEGGED me for a dog, I mean BEGGED. After a year I finally caved and we became a family of 6, with the addition of Biscuit! Biscuit was a rescue dog and was always little skittish since was a puppy. Being that way, trips to the vet have always been an issue and a trip to the groomer was out of the question. Since that is the case, we have taken on much of her health and care at home, which is why I just love using this DIY dry doggy shampoo on her. It’s just an easy way to keep her coat clean in between baths and helps keep her happy without the fuss of taking her anywhere.
Besides for her coat, her diet is up upmost concern for me. I am very vigilant on what food and treats she eats since she had always has a sensitive stomach. Budget is always a concern of mine as well, which is why I love choosing a dog food that comes with a quality name I trust but without that heavy price tag. Purina Beyond Natural Dry Dog Food and Purina Dog Chow Natural are two foods that she just LOVES. I like to offer her both to spice up her diet some, and she just loves them!
Purina Dog Chow Natural is made with real chicken, has no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives and must taste great since Biscuit eats is right up every time! It is a high quality, affordable natural food that provides 100% complete and balanced nutrition adult dogs need. Purina Beyond Natural Dry Dog Food is also made with real meat, fish or poultry and has it as it’s #1 ingredient! It’s made with no corn, wheat or soy products and has no added artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.
With three kids, I really don’t have time to shop around and compare prices, so I love that I can find both of these dog foods right in the pet aisle of my local Giant. I can pick up some up when I am shopping for food for the week and don’t have to make extra trips. I love saving even more money, so I’m glad Purina offers money saving coupons on these foods! Check out your paper this weekend for some great saving deals on their dog foods and treats, and check out their site too for more savings.
When it comes to keeping Biscuit’s coat shiny and healthy, this DIY Dry Doggy Shampoo couldn’t be easier to make or use. To make it, just mix equal parts baking soda, corn starch and a few drops of lavender essential oil and stir. I recycled an old parmesan cheese container to use as a shaker and one cup of each filled it right up. This type of container makes it easy to shake on your dog so not too much comes out.
To use it, first take your pup outside (trust me!) and brush her well. This will remove any excess dirt or clumps of hair. Once she is all brushed, you will want to shake a healthy amount of the dry dog shampoo on her and rub it in with the brush.
Let the powder sit on her fur for a few minutes so they can soak up the excess dirt and oil. After, you will want to keep brushing her until the powder is basically gone, the use an old towel to rub off the rest. If you need to, you can use a blow dryer on a warm setting to get off any excess.
I like to leave her outside for a little bit before letting her back in so she can shake any remaining hidden dry shampoo off. Once she’s all clean, I love to reward her with a nice treat, like a Purina DentaLife treat! These are not only super tasty for her, but beneficial for her dental health by helping to clean her teeth and gums. These treats were designed with an innovative porous, yet chewy, texture that contains thousands of air pockets and it’s unique shape features 8 distinct ridges that clean your dog’s teeth down to the gumline.
These yummy treats are the perfect reward for being such a good girl with her “bath”, she doesn’t even know they are healthy for her! I love that Purina is a brand I can trust to help me take care of Biscuit the best way possible and making it easy to fit into our busy lives. You can learn more about these products and helpful tips for your pet at the Purina website, and don’t forget to print out this coupon for the DentaLife treats before you shop!
