One of the best parts of our Minecraft party were the DIY Big Minecraft Steve and Creeper that I made as decorations. I had intentions of making an army of these guys but I ran out of time. The two I did do were a huge hit though. These weren’t too hard to make, but just took a bit of time to do.
To make these, you will need:
boxes of varying sizes to create your guys
white butcher paper
I didn’t really take step by step pictures for this project but it’s pretty self explanatory. I started with collecting come boxes and asking my husband to bring some home from work. Then I decided which I wanted to stick together to make my shapes. For the creeper, I choose a slightly wider box for the head and for Steve I did the same size, but just cut my paper a speck bigger for his head.
After I decided which boxes to use, I glued and taped them together so they would stick and the cut the front with white butcher paper. On the butcher I free drew a big Steve and a big Creeper with tempera paint. I drew the faces with pencil first and then filled in with paint. For the creeper, I just pained the checker board pattern with a dark and lighter green.
For Steve’s arms and the creepers feet I cut some some rectangles out of white box and painted them.
This gave them a slight bit of a 3D effect. To attach them, I just used masking tape.
I stuck them outside and had all the kids take pictures with them before the left. The kids LOVED them! I had intentions of painting the sides, but ran out of time, and I;m glad I didn’t because they didn’t even care! They had so much fun playing and being silly with them, I was glad I didn’t use any more of my time on them. If I had more time, I may have made a few animals or grass blocks, but I am happy with what I did!
