I have been using salt dough for years! It’s like the perfect dough for crafting and creating with. Made from only three ingredients it’s not only incredibly easy to make, but it’a uses are endless. This dough is great for using to make homemade ornaments out of (which make great hand-made holiday gifts!) or can be cut with cookie cutters to make any shape out of that can paint once hardened. This classic salt dough recipe will be all you will need for dozens of fun projects.
What you’ll need:
1 cup salt
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup luke warm water
To make it, just mix together the ingredients and add in the flour until the dough isn’t sticky anymore and is easy to mold and roll out.
I would suggest laying out some newspaper and the wax paper on top and give your kids a bit of flour to sprinkle if the dough gets sticks again (which may happen once they play with it).
You can roll it out and use cookie cutters to make all sorts of shapes or you can free build 3D creations too! The dough will harden after setting out for a few days or you can bake them at 200 degrees for around 15-20 minutes until they are dry. Watch them because depending on how thick they are, they may dry really fast and you don’t want them to burn.
