The weather is getting cooler out and the wind and cold air makes me in the mood for foods that are warm, filling and comforting. One of my very favorite fall and winter foods is a bowl of a delicious homemade soup. Soups are perfect for this time of year since they can be made in one big pot and can be served as a meal or as a side to any of your favorite dishes. One of the bests part is usually you have leftovers that can be eaten the next day (or next few days!) for lunch! Sometimes I am in the mood for a light soup, but other times I want something creamy and filling. When that mood strikes, one of my go-to recipes is this Cheddar Cheese Soup. It’s so easy (way easier than you think!) and incredibly delicious.
Cheese is literally one of my most favorite things to eat, so naturally I knew it would be delicious in a soup. This soup is crazy easy and pretty versatile too. I used cheddar cheese, but I would think that you could change that for a Monterey jack or Colby, or even a combo of cheeses, and get some delicious flavors.
Recently when I was at my local Walmart, I had this recipe on my mind, so I stopped by the milk and dairy aisle and grabbed a few of these bigger bags of Kraft Natural Cheese Shredded Cheddar. I like to get the finely shredded kind when I am melting it, since I think it turns out more creamy. The recipe calls for two cups of cheese, which is why I love to get the larger 24 oz bags if I can, so that I still have some left over or if I feel like making a double batch!
This soup only uses a few ingredients and can be whipped up in under 20 minutes! It’s prefect for an appetizer, side dish, or even a main course if you were in the mood for it! The flavors from the Kraft Naturally Shredded Cheddar Cheese combine perfectly with a subtle hint of mustard, worcestershire sauce to make a gorgeously colored soup that will warm you right up on a cool day.
You’ll be shocked at how easy it is to make it too! Simply melt your butter and add in the flour. After, mix in your water, milk, and spices and let it cook for approximately 10 minutes, then stir in your cheese and you are done! It has such bold flavors, your guests will think you cooked it for hours.
To serve, I like to add in some chunks of garlic bread, for some added texture and flavors. They also are great for dipping too! This soup is so easy to make, you’ll be wanting to make it a few times a week!
