Tweens- aren’t they great? If you have one of these interesting breeds at home, you will know exactly what I am talking about. Tweens are at a funny place in life, and while they don’t always mean it, they often can be your best friend one moment and hate you the next. I don’t think boys are as bad (but I don’t have a tween boy yet, so I cannot positively confirm this), but girls- whoooo doggy, they are fierce! If you have an up and coming tween daughter, here is some friendly advice on talking with her.
.Don’t talk to her in the morning when she first wakes up. Nope.
.Don’t talk to her when her friends are over. Unless she needs you, then be sure to answer right away.
.Try not to talk about her clothes. They are fine MOM.
.Definetly don’t ask her if she brushed her hair. Whatever. It’s DONE!!!
.Ask her about her day.Be interested. Don’t look away.
.Don’t ask her what she wants to eat, but be sure to make what she likes and was in the mood for.
.Don’t ever question her about her current style. It’s obviously awesome mom, what the heck do you know anyways??
.If you tell her to turn her tablet off and that FaceTime with her friends is over, it’s best to stay away for at least 22 minutes.
.Remember that she is older, but not to old, but definitely old enough.
.Let her know that she is heard and valued and loved. Always and truly. (and forever)
Hopefully that was helpful for you! Or not? Who knows! Maybe I like you right now or maybe I don’t! Maybe the world doesn’t understand me?! Whaaa. Haha.
