It’s no secret that I have a bunch of minecraft lovers in my house. If I let them, they’d play morning noon and night. Sometimes it’s good to turn off this tablets and do something else- especially in the car. Batteries die, brains get drained and sometimes you just need a change. I have gathered up seven great Minecraft-inspired road trip car ideas that are perfect for those times you need a little break from the screens, but still want to keep the kids entertained and interested.
1. Spin-a-story, Minecraft style.
In the traditional game, you sit in a circle and one person starts a story and then each person adds onto it and adds onto it, getting more and more interesting as you go. For this version, you do the same but just make it Minecraft themed! One day, a creeper and a zombie were eating lunch and then….
2. Minecraft ABC’s.
Go around the car taking turns naming something Minecraft related from each letter of the alphabet, start with A and then B and C and so on seeing how far you can get. If you get stuck on ideas, check out this list of Minecraft related objects and also Mobs, which are the characters in the game. Feel free to print these out and use them as parent cheat sheets too. *wink wink*
3. Minecraft One Word Stories.
Just like with spinning a story, this story is grown from each person adding to it, but instead of saying a few sentences, you just say one word. Why. Can’t. Herobrien. Come. Over. For. Lunch?
4. Minecraft I-spy.
A traditional car game, with a fun Minecraft twist. Obviously you won’t be seeing Zombies, Creepers or giant Spiders out your window as you drive, but instead, you can turn this into a two-part game by taking turns spying something and then adding in a Minecraft item or mob with the same letter. Think: I spy something red…A SIGN! Then, Sheep!
5. Minecraft “Who am I?”
Think of a Minecraft item or Mob and then take turns trying to guess what that is by asking questions to try and figure out what you ate thinking of. I am green and make a SSSS sound, who am I?
6. Minecraft “Would you rather?”
Would you rather have one Diamond sword or 1000 wooden swords? Would you rather fight a creeper or a zombie? Would you rather have lunch with Herobrien or 1000 Endermen? This game has endless possibilities!
7. Make up some parody songs.
These are so fun! Most kids that are die-hard Minecraft fans have heard a parody song at least once. These songs take the beat of tune of a popular song and turn the lyrics into Minecraft themed ones. Download a few for inspiration and then create some of your own!
So the next time you are in the car and need an activity to keep your kids busy (or their batteries die!) then try a few of these fun Minecraft-Inspired road trip games that are sure to give your kids lots of fun and laughs.
Which game do you think would be your kids favorite?
