I remember before I had kids, I would love to treat myself to a nice manicure and pedicure once a month, and every few months perhaps schedule myself to get a facial, boy wrap or a massage at the spa. Fast forward nine years and I am lucky if I get a pedicure once a year (no joke) and the spa is just a distant memory, but that doesn’t mean that this mama doesn’t like to find some time to relax every now and again! If your life sounds like mine, then I want to share 5 steps to creating a relaxing spa night at home for all of us busy moms out there!
Ok, get those kids to bed and tie up any loose ends. Ready to relax now? Great, lets get started!
Step one: Draw a hot bath
Nothing says “RELAX” like a nice hot bath. A plain bath is nice, but adding some treats to it will make it even better! One of my favorite soaks to use is a homemade Lavender Milk Bath mix that will make your skin so soft and the smells will immediately make you feel at ease.
To make it mix together:
2 cups dry powdered milk
1/2 cup epsom salts
1/2 cup sea salt
1/2 cup baking soda
6 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops rose essential oil
Fill up that tub with the hottest water as you can stand and add in 1/2 of a cup of this soak and get ready to relax your cares away.
Step two: Apply a face mask
Before you hop in the tub, scrub your face clean and then apply your favorite face mask or make one yourself. One of my favorite ones is an Egg White Red Wine Mask- sounds delicious, right? Here’s how you make it:
1 Egg white
3 tablespoons Red wine
1 tablespoons organic Honey
Combine the ingredients well and apply it to your face for 10-15 minutes. The high levels of antioxidants in the red wine make your skin bright and glowing and looking very youthful.
Step three: Give yourself an at-home mani and pedi
Once you are done with your bath, apply some thick and hydrating cream and then treat your piggies to some love by giving them a scrub and applying a coat of your favorite nail polish. Even if it’s winter, having some freshly painted ties will leave your feet feeling youthful and your whole body more relaxed!
Step four: Get a brighter smile
