We’ve been living in our new house for over a year now and have made LOTS of changes to our kitchen and living spaces: new hardwood floors, new granite counters, new appliances, new furniture and freshly painted cabinets- just to name a few. Many of these projects were quiet costly, so naturally we are now looking for some more inexpensive ways to add updates to other spaces- especially our bathrooms! Our downstairs powder room is the next space I want to redo, and really want to do it on the cheap. These 5 simple ways to change up your bathroom are great, smaller changes that anyone can do to really freshen up a space without the huge contractor price tag!
If your bathroom has good bones but just needs some updates like mine does, than often redoing a space can be quite simple. Here are some of the ways you can change up your bathroom- and the things I totally plan on doing.
New Faucet
This is one I really want to do first! We have older faucets in all of our bathrooms and cannot wait to change them out. This is a simple project too, one that my not always that handy husband can definitely master.
Whether you go with more traditional, more modern, or a farmhouse look (which is what I love!), there’s plenty of selection online. Plumbtile has a great selection of dozens of different brands and manufactures in one convenient places so be sure to check that out. Sometimes you can save lots of money by avoiding the big box stores and shopping online for these types of products. No matter what you choose, swapping out your faucet will make a HUGE difference!
Update the Lighting
Do you still have the old fashioned globe bathroom lighting in your bathroom like I do? Isn’t it awful??! I hate mine, so changing out the lighting in my bathroom is of the upmost importance. Like the faucet, changing the lighting is a fairly simple task (just turn the breaker off first!!)
Switching your old light to something like this instantly gives your room a whole new feel- jus match the finishes from the faucet you chose and you are good to go!
Change Out The Hardware
If you can’t afford to change our your old bathroom vanity, consider painted it and swapping out the hardware. That’s what we did to our kitchen cabinets and they look and feel brand new. Again, match the finishes and you’ll have a great finished and modern feel.
Add a new Mirror
Adding some framing or swapping out your old mirror in your bathroom will really change the look of your space. Depending on the style you want, something more classic like this framed black mirror can add a ton of character, or you could go more modern and cleaned lined like this frameless version.
Either way, you will be updating your space with very little effort.
Change the Paint and Decorations
New paint always changes a space- and is very inexpensive too. I love the mint green I have in my bathroom, but definitely could use some new accessories and decorations. Shopping for new hand soap or lotion dispensers, adding a fresh hand towel or putting in a small shelf are all ways to add some character and make the space really feel like new.
These are just a few ideas of what I want to do in my bathroom space and I can’t wait to get started! I love all of the selection on Plubtile’s website, they have everything you would need to make your bathroom fresh and new feeling from tile, to lighting to toilets! They also have plenty of kitchen items too.
