It’s no secret that I have struggled with my metabolism for the past year. I have tried to make some changes and some have worked and some, not so much. Part of it is getting older and from my pregnancies, and part of it is my fault. Inconsistent eating and workouts are definitely to blame. I never used to really “gain” weight…well now that is definitely NOT the case. I am up a bit in my weight (more than I would care to admit!!) and am NOT happy about it. I am still in a healthy range, which is great, but I don’t “feel” really great. So I have been making some changes (again) and trying to get back into shape!
Part of my problem is trying to workout at home with three kids is like trying to brush your teeth while eating an Oreo- it doesn’t work. I have decided I am going to finally bite the bullet and join a gym when the kids go back to school in a week. I really I think I deserve that time for me and if that means I have to buy a few less Starbucks a week, then so be it. I love taking the classes and you can burn some serious calories in an hour doing them. If I wear my HRM at home during a workout, it’s a joke. I’ll burn like 150-200 calories= really? That’s like two string cheeses- give me a break.
I still like to have an at-home arsenal of workouts available to me though and was super excited when a friend and fellow blogger I know, Angelena from On Fire Fitness, asked me to test out her 4-week Shape Up Plan! This e-book is simple to download and gets you ready to go in moments. Angelena is a certified personal trainer and knows what she’s talking about. She has 5+ years of experience in her belt helping people be healthy and the best they can be.
The 4 Week Shape Up Plan is an e-book that be directly downloaded so you can start right away. The book is short and right to the point, beginning with the importance of eating real food with some example meal plans and the getting into what workouts you should be doing. It goes through some cardio workouts and then strength workouts. The cardio ones include different treadmill workouts that you can adapt to doing outside (which is what I have been doing) and also some Tabata workouts. The strength workouts using basic weights and she includes images so you know exactly what workout you should be doing. The workouts are circuit based, which is much more interesting than just going through a long list of exercises!

Here is an little sneak peak how the exercises are set up. The exercise is listed and an image is included so you know how to correctly complete the move.
I have completed one week of the plan so far and feel pretty good! I have lost two pounds total and one inch in my thighs (which is great for what I have been used too!! Ha!) and have been trying my best to carve that time out for ME. I have been waking up early 4-5 days a week and running. I have been only doing 3 to 3.5 miles because I am playing catch up from not doing too much for so long. I plan on sticking to that distance for probably a few more weeks and then I will up it a bit for a few runs. I have been implementing the “smaller meals more frequently” mentality, which is helping. I have been making it a point to have BREAKFAST every day too. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE breakfast, but with the kids, I sometimes forget to eat, which is terrible for your metabolism! My current fav has been two eggs over easy with some salsa and green onions and a slice of whole wheat toast. The whole thing is under 250 calories but I am FULL from it!
I don’t snack too much, but my biggest problem is I’ll skip a meal and then am starving later! Angelena’s plan has helped me to get back on track with that.
So far, I am really digging her no nonsense book. I like how it gets straight to the point and really is simple to understand. She even includes her email so if you have any questions along your journey, she can help!
Her new 4 Week Shape Up Plan is only $10 too! Seriously a great bargain. So if YOU are in need of a little boost to help you get back on track, this is the plan for you. Simple to follow and straight to the point. It’s not a fancy diet- its a way of life.
I have a ways to go and am excited to see where I’ll be at the end of the 4 weeks! Look for another post with my final results, and maybe some pictures if I am brave enough!!
