Here I am again with a lovely list of things to get rid of! I’ve shared a list of items to ditch from your house and your kid’s rooms– and now we are tackling the closet. I hate clutter and my closet was honestly the worst offender. Our local high school was collecting items to be donated recently so I took it upon myself to go through it and really purge! I am always saving things that I don’t need. Things that are out of style and things that don’t fit were the worst and once I started really going through it, I found about 6 bags of crap to get rid of. Yes, 6 bags!! Just with my stuff! I had jeans from high school in there. I know I am never fitting into THOSE anymore, so why did I even have them?? Honestly it wasn’t sentimental, it was just more that I hadn’t taken the time do to go through my own stuff. I go though the kids’s stuff at least twice a year, but hardly mine. Are you like me? If so, then you need this list! Today I am sharing 20 items to ditch from your closet now- yes, right now!
We often have way more in our closet than we’d ever need or wear, so it’s good to purge down and have less pieces, but that are more classic. Pieces that match more and can combined to make more outfits, and that are in timeless styles and colors. Of course it’s fun to have special pieces for special occasions, but for the most part, anything on this list really just needs to do. Ok, ready to get started? Let’s grab some bags and go!
- Faded black clothing
- Old bags you haven’t used in over a year
- Any socks with holes
- Anything stretched out
- Old undergarments
- Sweaters that have shrunk
- White clothing that has yellowed
- Jeans that don’t fit
- Skin tight t-shirts
- Worn out shoes
- Faded denim
- Things you wore in high school or college (except maybe that sentimental t-shirt!)
- Anything in holes
- Old bridesmaid our other formal wear you KNOW you are never going to wear
- Hats you don’t wear
- Bras that don’t fit right
- Shoes that give you blisters
- Clothes that you have to squeeze into
- Too short shorts or skirts
- Frayed scarves that don’t match anything
Feel better now? How many items on the list did you have? I had pretty much all of them, which is very sad. Now my closet is much more organized and I have space for more pieces I love, instead of a bunch of pieces that are so-so. Now that you have purged, remember not to actually toss them, there are plenty of places that will take old clothes so find a charity or church near by and donate the pieces without holes or that aren’t all stretched out- because no one has time for those!
This is so helpful!
Good list, I have more than a few of those items hanging around!
Great list. I need to do this!!!
