Starting a family game night tradition is a great on to have. Even if you can’t do it every week, like us, setting a date to get together as a family to enjoy some snacks, games and laughs is the perfect way to continue to build connections with your kids, which is especially good for when they are getting older.
Oh does this take me back down memory lane. We had regular “family game nights” when my children were growing up. Now they are adults, we STILL have them. Great way to turn off all the gadgets and just have fun together! One of our favorites and still is. . . Catch Phrase.
I agree! I love family game nights, so much fun!
I like family games because it provides some structure so that everyone has something to “do” and doesn’t feel awkward, which can happen even in a family. My family took on the habit of asking trivia questions over dinner. This helped if we were having a rough day because it gave us something noncontroversial to discuss (you can see I’ve been through the teen years…) We have a couple of books and still enjoy pulling them out. This could definitely go digital as well!
Trivia questions at dinner is a great idea! We often play “would you rather?” and the kids love it, but I may have to invest in some questions- that would be fun too! Thanks for the idea ๐
The Minute To Win It games are always so much fun! We love any kind of family games in this house. We often pack up one or two along with dinner and head over to a friends’ house to play with them too!
I know! They are so much fun, and fun to watch too- haha! Thanks for stopping by!
I seriously can’t wait until my toddler is old enough for a lot of these games as they are some of my favs!! Thanks for taking me down memory lane of what fun I’ve had with my mom ๐
They will love them! My kids love playing games together as a family.
Thanks for linking to my post, Michelle! This is a great roundup!
Thank you! It was a great out of the box family game night idea and I loved including it!
This is a great idea. We do Friday family night sometimes, but I often lack inspiration! Thanks for the ideas.
Thank you! I too can lack inspiration, which was why I wanted to write this round up! LOL! I hope it gives you some fun ideas for nights when you are stuck and don’t know what to play!
