Use Baking Soda to Clean up Pet Urine
Have a new puppy? Or an older dog that is prone to accidents? If your dog pees on the carpet you can use a cheap home remedy to clean it up: baking soda. It is great at removing odors as well. To clean it up, pour some baking soda over the spot, let it sit for about 20 minutes and then vacuum it up.
Cover Up Scratch Marks on Furniture with a Walnut
Do you have a few scratch marks on your wooden furniture from your puppy? You can cover them easily up by rubbing a walnut over them. The natural oils inside the walnuts will seep into wood and give you a simple way to help cover up small scratches in your furniture.
Make Your Own DIY Dog Products that do Double Duty
Do you have some not so pleasant dog odors you want to get rid of? Or maybe your DOG is a little smelly?? If you don’t have any special products on hand don’t worry – you can make your own simple dog friendly carpet deodorizer that doubles as a DIY Dry Dog Shampoo with items you’ve got around the house! Check out my easy recipe here.
Make a Tug Toy From Old Clothes
Does your dog love to play tug? Got some extra t-shirts lying around? Make your own toy by braiding one of your old t-shirts into a tug toy rather than throwing them out. It’s a super easy way to make your pet’s new favorite toy.
Buy a Kiddie Pool to Keep Your Dog Busy
Does your dog like to play in the water? Keep your dog cool in this summer by using a plastic kiddie pool out in the yard. They’re inexpensive, durable and easy to store when not in use. They also won’t be popped by long dog nails.
Make Some Dog Popsicles for Warm Days
When the temperatures begin to rise, help keep your pup cool by making them their very own doggy popsicles! Freeze some broth or treats in ice trays to give your dog a nice little treat on those hot summer days.
Check for Fleas By Giving Your Dog the White Towel Test
Do you think you dog has fleas? Have them lay on a white towel or sheet while you examine & brush their fur. The sheet will make it easy to see any loose flea dirt that falls from your dog.
If You Find Any, Try This DIY Flea/Tick Trick
Even with prevention, sometimes your pup gets a tick or fleas. If you find one, don’t panic! Ticks are easier to remove if you dab them with a cotton soaked in liquid dish soap first. As for fleas, mix one part each of Dawn and vinegar with four parts of warm water. Massage it in; let your dog sit in water for about five minutes. The fleas should float to the top of the water and die.
Make Your Own DIY Treat Toy
Make a DIY treat toy easily by cutting a slit into a tennis ball and filling it with some small doggy treats. Cheaper than the pet store options and just as fun for your pup!
Shed Happens, so Make it Easy to Clean Up
Dogs can be messy, that is for sure! Even after potty training is complete, then you have muddy paws, shedding fur and dirt dragged in from the outside. Don’t let the thought of cleaning up after a new pet be a deterrent from getting one. Cleaning up after your dog can be as easy as one-two-three, thanks to Swiffer!
One- the Swiffer Duster!
Got dog hair on your furniture? No problem. Each Swiffer duster is full of Dust Lock Adhesive and 50% more fibers than a regular duster. This amazing little guy has an all-around design that cleans deep into grooves to trap and lock up to 3X more dust than a feather duster. This guy is perfect for getting the dust and pet hair off of tables, counters, window sills, blinds and more!
Two- the AMAZING Swiffer Sweep & Vac
I have been saying this for years and it still stands true for today. Hands down the Swiffer Sweep & Vac is the best floor cleaning tool there is. It is the absolute fastest and easiest ways to help you tackle the shed from your pet, as well as crumbs from your kids. The dry cloth attaches to the bottom and has deep ridges and grooves that conform to the surface of your floor to TRAP + LOCK dirt, dust and hair, all the while vacuuming up small pieces of dirt and crumbs so you don’t have to pull out the broom. It’s so easy to use too, you can teach your kids how to help out with it! I use it every.single.day- often twice. Oh yeah- it’s rechargeable and cordless too.
Three- the Swiffer WetJet
Once your floor is all dust and pet hair free- clean it quickly without the mop and bucket with the Swiffer WetJet. The WetJet Floor Spray Mop gives you a great clean on virtually any floor in your home. With a unique dual-nozzle sprayer, this all-in-one mopping system breaks up and dissolves tough messes for a powerful clean in no time. Its cleaning solution is safe for kids and pets and quickly loosens dirt and lifts it off the floor while pulling dirt and grime into the WetJet pad and locking it away for good. It’s much faster than old fashion mopping and then you can just toss the dirty pad away when you are done. Goodbye muddy paw prints!
These ten doggy life hacks can help save you time, money and sanity when it comes to your new puppy or old doggy companion. Don’t let the fear of a mess hold you back from living your best pet life. Shed happens, but with Swiffer, you can have the best of both worlds: a clean house and share it with your furry friends! Even though there is always mess, Swiffer makes cleaning it up quickly and effectively which gives you more time to enjoy the things you really would rather be doing.
